....Dear freedivers in Thailand

Regarding brand new AIDA Thailand, I have called Khun Aey in Phuket who's involved directly for more info.
She told me that few instructors in Phuket, and her shared money and set up AIDA Thailand. The main
purpose is to have an organization so that they can organize some freediving events in the future.
However, they would like to transfer it to Thai hands after the foundation.

Aey will discuss with other guys there further about the organization and the membership and will let us know.
She would like us from Bangkok to be part of it directly as we are the biggest Thai freedivers group. We will
have to pay for the membership. We will also have to talk about committee, rules, activities, and blah blah later.

I think it's good that some people have made it up, but the more important thing for the sport is us Thai who will be
responsible for running it. So please don't be shy to share your own ideas in shaping our freediving trend.

ถ้าโครงสร้างองค์กรเป็นที่ตกลงและจัดการเรียบร้อยแล้ว อาจจะต้องมีหน้าเว็บไอด้า ประเทศไทย
และมีการประชาสัมพันธ์ จากนั้นอยากให้มีการแข่งขันเฉพาะในหมู่คนไทยเพื่อเป็นการกระตุ้นกันเอง
ก่อนที่จะไปแข่งขันในระดับที่ใหญ่ต่อไป เพราะเวลามีการแ่ข่งขันใหญ่ๆประจำปีตามที่ต่างๆ แข่งกับ
ฝรั่ง บางคนยังไม่กล้าไปเข้าร่วม เพราะไม่มั่นใจในตัวเองหรือขาดการฝึกซ้อม การจัดการแข่งย่อยๆ
แบบกันเอง อาจทำให้รู้สึกสบายใจกว่าและไม่กดดันมาก รวมทั้งกระตุ้นให้มีการฝึกซ้อมและฝึกฝนตัวเอง
การแข่งขันอาจแบ่งรอบแข่งที่สระกับแข่งที่ทะเล ซึ่งไม่ต้องเป็นวันเดียวกันช่วงเดียวกันก็ได้ เว้นระยะได้
สามารถเชิญกรรมการจากภูเก็ตมาตัดสินและรับรองสถิติได้

ผมเคยคิดไว้นานแล้วว่าอยากจะประชาสัมพันธ์กีฬานี้ให้เป็นที่รู้จัก

เคยคิดไว้ว่าจะไปติดประกาศหาผู้ที่สนใจกีฬานี้ที่มหาวิทยาลัยที่ผมสอนอยู่ แล้วอาจจะนัดแนะให้ผู้ที่สนใจมาชมการสาธิตกีฬานี้และร่วมฝึกซ้อมด้วยกัน หรืออาจจะเชิญ instructor คนใดคนหนึ่งที่สอนในประเทศเรา มาบรรยาย หรือร่วมสาธิต ซึ่งอาจจะเป็นจากทางภูเก็ต หรือเกาะเต่า (เคยคุยกับ Akim ไว้คร่าวๆ แล้ว) ก็น่าลองดู

ปกติตอนนิสิตเข้าปี 1 จะหากิจกรรมประเภทชมรมทำกันอยู่แล้ว

แต่ปัญหาติดอยู่ที่ว่าเมื่อพวกเขาสนใจแล้ว จะมีกิจกรรมอะไรให้เขาเดินหน้าต่อไป และจะรูปแบบการฝึกซ้อมเขาอย่างไร เพราะผมไม่ใช่อาจารย์ทางด้านพละ อาจเคยร่วมเป็นนักกีฬากรีฑาตอนอยู่มหาวิทยาลัยปี 1 ก็พอเห็นระบบบ้าง ว่าเราต้องมีสถานที่ของชมรม ตารางซ้อม และโปรแกรมการซ้อมที่แน่นอน และเกือบทุกวัน

การเข้าร่วมการแข่งขัน พวกเขาต้องผ่านการเรียนตามหลักสูตรไม่ว่าจะเป็น AIDA หรือ SSI และต้องผ่านการสอบ Certification หรือไม่ ประเด็นนี้ผมยังไม่ได้ตรวจสอบ

แต่ถ้าคิดจะทำผมคิดว่าก็น่าที่จะพอทำได้ อาจจะต้องประสานไปยังคณะที่เกี่ยวข้องเพื่อสอบถามความสนใจ เผื่อมีอาจารย์ทางพละศึกษาท่านใดสนใจเข้าร่วม
ช่วงเวลาที่เหมาะสมของการประชาสัมพันธ์กลุ่มเป้าหมายที่เป็นนิสิตมหาวิทยาลัยก็น่าจะประมาณ ช่วงเปิดเทอมต้นประมาณเดือนมิถุนายน ซึ่งผมคิดว่าน่าจะมีเวลาพอที่จะเตรียมการได้ แต่ผมจะทำกิจกรรมนี้ในนามใครเท่านั้น

อาจต้องจัดกิจกรรมเพื่อหาทุน (sponsor) ไว้ support ทีมในการฝึกซ้อมและจัดซื้ออุปกรณ์ต่างๆ เช่น การไปซ้อมภาคทะเล การซื้อ Buoy และเชือก ฯลฯ เป็นต้น

ตอนนี้ผมได้จดทะเบียน Domain Name www.thailandfreedivng.com, .net และ .org ไว้แล้ว ตั้งใจว่าจะทำเป็น web site ที่เป็นภาพรวม ไม่ใช่แค่ BKKLOMA
และจะ link BKKLOMA ไว้เป็นส่วนหนึ่ง

ส่วน www.aida-thailand.org ยังไม่มีใครจด แต่ผมก็ไม่อยากใช้ชื่อนั้น เพราะผมยังไม่ได้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของ AIDA Thailand ในตอนนี้

ที่นี้เราจะเริ่มต้นกันอย่างไร จะในนาม AIDA ประเทศไทย หรือในนาม ชมรมนักดำน้ำแบบอิสระ หรือภายใต้ชื่ออะไร

ทำยังไงให้กีฬาเป็นที่รู้จักมากๆ ตอนสัมภาษณ์กับ Away เวลาเค้าถามว่าคนไทยเล่นกีฬานี้เยอะไหม ไม่รู้จะตอบยังไงเลย ประมาณไม่เกินสิบคนมั้งครับ
ต้นอยากให้มีการประชาสัมพันธ์กีฬาเยอะๆ หาคนมา Freedive กับพวกเราเยอะๆ ครับ
ในส่วนรายละอียดโครงสร้างต่างๆ ต้นคงไม่มีความคิดเห็นใดๆ แต่เรื่องการประชาสัมพันธ์กีฬา ถ้าช่วยได้ยินดีเสมอ

happy to read the enthusiastic responses!

I'm sorry about the delay in my replys, as we've been on the road for a bit and are busy, busy, busy at the moment.

Just Short info:

As published on the AIDA website on April 4, 2011 AIDA Thailand is an official Member of AIDA International.

At the moment, we have eight members, and will need 25 to reach voting status within AIDA International.


The founding members and current roles of AIDA Thailand are:

Miguèl Vannieuvenhoven - President
Sarah Whitcher - Secretary
Richard Wonka - Treasurer

For the time being we set the annual membership fee to THB 800 to cover the cost for membership association with AIDA International which will be covered with two more members. :-)

If any of you would like to continue in Sarah's or my role, please just let us know and we will resign to put the organisation fully into Thai Hands. I cannot speak for Miguèl, but I guess he'll do the same. - I'll point him here.

For now, all the best from Phuket and I hope to see many of you soon! Here or in Bangkok.

I think many here have the same question; how to be a member? so that we could help covering

About transferring roles, I think we may need to see how many Thai would seriously like to be

I'm glad to find out about your forum! Sorry for having taken so long to introduce myself here, but like Richard I'm very busy these day's...

Anyway, you can take a look at the AIDA Thailand statutes here: statutes (you need to skip the ad)

Like Sarah and Richard, my wish is to transfer my role into Thai hands.

For the subscriptions, you can just send a little mail to either one of us for now. In the future, the plan is to set up a website with subscription form, forum, mailing lists etc... This might take some time though since we spend most of our time in the water

If any of you have some questions. feel free to post here or send me a PM or mail!

In fact, if you and Richard and Sarah would like to be added to the Contacts, we would be very glad and it might provide a link to your professional activities (please send me or Nae a short text and picture).

I think that what is needed next is a meeting (also to comply with Article 7) and I think you guys from the Committee should organize it. I live in Chiang Mai, and I am glad to come to Bangkok or Phuket but it would be good if there is some parallel activity to make the journey more worthwhile, like one or two sessions of training and get-together. And some people might connect via skype or similar.

In my opinion the meeting should have among other goals:

• Discussion of the Statute and Committee (eg passage to Thai hands next year?)
  
• Volunteers for the design and implementation of a proper Web site
  
• Activities such as outreach meetings (for people who might have heard about freediving

I think that what is needed next is a meeting (also to comply with Article 7) and I think you guys from the Committee should organize it. I live in Chiang Mai, and I am glad to come to Bangkok or Phuket but it would be good if there is some parallel activity to make the journey more worthwhile, like one or two sessions of training and get-together. And some people might connect via skype or similar.

I think we could use google hangouts for meetings, that way we easyly get video group chat. We also use online meetings in AIDA International and it works quite well.

In my opinion the meeting should have among other goals:

• Discussion of the Statute and Committee (eg passage to Thai hands next year?)
  
• Volunteers for the design and implementation of a proper Web site
  
• Activities such as outreach meetings (for people who might have heard about freediving
  and want to learn more, with videos and presentations), trainings (for people who want to

In order to move AIDA Thailand into Thai hands, we pretty much only need three volunteers and a quick meeting in which the current board votes to resign in favour of those volunteers.
